General Information:
The Department of Ophthalmology at Aksaray University Faculty of Medicine was established to provide education, research, and healthcare services focused on the protection of visual health and the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. Our department adopts a contemporary and holistic approach across all subspecialties of ophthalmology, including retina, cornea, glaucoma, strabismus, and oculoplasty. Clinical services are delivered in accordance with the principles of patient safety, scientific accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Educational Activities:
Our department provides both theoretical and practical training in ophthalmology to medical students. As part of the residency program, research assistant physicians rotate through retina, cornea, glaucoma, strabismus, and oculoplasty units, gaining clinical and surgical competencies as well as research proficiency. Throughout the training process, case discussions, seminars, literature reviews, and case presentations are regularly organized.
Service Areas:
Our clinic actively operates retina, strabismus, cornea, glaucoma, and oculoplasty units. All patient examinations and treatments are documented through electronic and physical medical records, and follow-ups are conducted meticulously. The clinic successfully performs all major ophthalmic surgeries, including vitreoretinal surgery, cataract surgery, strabismus surgery, eyelid procedures, pterygium surgery, lacrimal duct system surgeries, and glaucoma surgery. Additionally, fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) is routinely used for diagnosing retinal diseases, while intravitreal injections and argon laser treatments are regularly administered.
Research and Scientific Activities:
Our academic staff actively publishes at national and international levels and participates in scientific congresses and symposiums. Scientific studies conducted within the clinic encourage the active involvement of both faculty members and research assistants, and clinical and experimental research is strongly supported.
