General Introduction and Purpose of Establishment
The Department of General Surgery at Aksaray University Faculty of Medicine provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical services in areas such as the digestive system, breast, thyroid, endocrine system, liver, biliary tract, pancreas, spleen, soft tissue, and hernia surgery. Our department aims to deliver high-quality healthcare using current surgical techniques and scientific approaches in both emergency and elective cases.
Educational Activities
We offer theoretical and practical training to medical students and residents on topics including introduction to general surgery, surgical anatomy, sterilization, preoperative and postoperative patient management, cancer surgeries, and screening procedures.
Service Areas
Our clinic provides both outpatient and inpatient services, operating in coordination with the surgical ward, intensive care unit, endoscopy unit, and operating theaters.
Common surgical procedures include:
Gallbladder surgeries (laparoscopic cholecystectomy)
Hernia repairs (inguinal, umbilical, incisional)
Breast and thyroid surgeries
Colorectal, gastric, and liver cancer surgeries
Emergency abdominal surgeries (appendicitis, perforation, trauma, bowel obstruction, etc.)
In addition, patients benefit from minimally invasive and comfortable surgical options supported by modern laparoscopic and endoscopic technologies.
Research and Scientific Activities
Our faculty members actively publish in national and international journals and participate in congresses and symposiums. Keeping up with innovations in surgery, supporting scientific research, and encouraging resident and student involvement are among our department’s core goals.
